The concept of representative government is so intertwined with other significant concepts - such as legitimacy and accountability, for instance, which puts it in quite a specific position - widely accepted and referred to, yet lacking accurate and conclusive definition, which the above mentioned concepts have. This seeming weakness of the concept of representative government calls for reconsideration. Yet, it is particularly strong one.

It provides answer/s to the question 'Why those who govern are the ones who govern?' and, respectively, to the closely following 'Why those who are governed agree to be governed?'. It is the view of the creator of this blog that the concept of representative government will be particularly useful and fruitful when applied, as an heuristic 'tool', to various types of government in different times.

For that purpose here will be gathered and presented bits and pieces of information – both factual and conceptual, in regard to representative government. Used and useful sources of information are listed in section ‘Bibliography’ – it is, of course, recommended that if you are interested in more depth you should consult them in their full length. Apart from that, each entry is followed by its source. On the last section - 'Glossary' - is provided brief explanation of some of the words, terms or concepts that you may meet in the blog, which will be also formatted in bold and italic.
